Prix Iris

Some of you might have noticed that Gaspard Ulliel Daily was offline for a short while… which is one of the reasons why I am a little late in sharing the following news, sorry for that!

“Juste la fin du monde” was the big winner of the Gala Québec Cinéma that took place last Sunday, June 4. The film received 5 awards out of 12 nominations:

  • Best Film
  • Best Director: Xavier Dolan
  • Best Actress: Nathalie Baye
  • Best Actor: Gaspard Ulliel
  • Best Supporting Actress: Léa Seydoux, Marion Cotillard
  • Best Casting: Xavier Dolan
  • Best Cinematography: André Turpin
  • Best Make-Up: Maïna Militza
  • Best Hairstyling: Denis Vidal

Gaspard did not attend the event and was unfortunately not lucky enough to win the best actor award. However, 5 prizes are still a huge success for this film and everyone involved. Congratulations!

Xavier Dolan about Gaspard

I have a little treat for my French speaking visitors in the form of Xavier Dolan praising Gaspard at the César Awards:

Dolan describes Gaspard as extremely intelligent and lists many more positive characteristics before he adds, “In fact, I’m in love with him.”

I’m still super happy that Dolan asked Gaspard to join “Juste la fin du monde” and I hope the fact that they think so well of each other encourages them to work together again someday!

“Best Actor” César for Gaspard!

I’m thrilled to let you know that Gaspard won the best actor award last night at the Césars for his performance in “Juste la fin du monde”. Unfortunately, he couldn’t attend the event because he is busy shooting “Eva” in the French Alps. Director Xavier Dolan received the prize for Gaspard and read out his speech:

Dolan himself earned the best director and the best editing award for “Juste la fin du monde”. Congratulations to Gaspard, Xavier Dolan, and everyone who was involved in making this film!

“La danseuse” took home the award for best costume design. Gaspard worked on this project as well in a supporting role.  Bravo à tous !
